Consorci Víes Verdes de Girona
Ecovies de Girona, new brand to integrate the complete network of itineraries
The Girona Greenways Consortium has redefined its new brand and new logos. This change responds to the growth and diversification of the routes managed by the Consortium, which began its work of managing, maintaining and promoting Girona’s greenways in 2003, with the support of Girona Provincial Council and the municipalities of the three main initial routes: the Iron and Coal Route (Ripoll – Sant Joan de les Abadesses), the Carrilet I Route (Olot – Girona) and the Carrilet II Route (Girona – Sant Feliu de Guíxols), which totalled 110 km.
The cycling network gradually developed over the years. In 2013, with European funding, the Pirinexus cross-border route was created, a 340 km circular cycling route linking the counties of Girona with France. Between 2018 and 2024, the type of routes and the kilometres to be managed continued to increase, so that a distinction was made between greenways, the Pirinexus route and cycling routes. Currently, with new European funding, new connection projects are being developed, small new sections and improvements that will increase the cycling network.
The routes managed by the Consorci of Vies Verdes de Girona currently cover more than 500 km. In 2024, the number of uses of Girona’s greenways exceeded one million.
