On 3 June 2026, on the occasion of UN World Bicycle Day, the Sarajevo Cycling Forum took place at the United Nations House in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The main focus of the event was the Giro di Ćiro Greenway, a project funded by the World Bank Group. Among the speakers was Giulio Senes, Professor at the Università degli Studi di Milano and President of the European Greenways Association, who shared some of Europe’s most inspiring greenway experiences and best practices.
Valuable contributions were also made by Toni Zorić, President of the Herzegovina Bike Association.
The Giro di Ćiro Greenway project and its strategic vision were presented by Edoardo Repetto of TRT Trasporti e Territorio Srl and Mirko Radovanac, President of the Yugo Cycling Campaign.
Giro di Ćiro is an ambitious cross-border greenway project in the Western Balkans that aims to transform the route of the former Austro-Hungarian narrow-gauge railway into one of Europe’s longest cycling and walking trails. The name “Ćiro” comes from the affectionate nickname given to the historic steam locomotives that once ran on this railway.
