Ecopista de Guimarães
Country: Portugal
The Ecopista de Guimarães is a 21 km greenway created on a disused section of the former Guimarães railway line, linking the historic city of Guimarães with Fafe in northern Portugal.
The route offers a unique contrast between urban and rural landscapes. Starting in Guimarães, a city renowned for its rich cultural heritage and historic monuments, the greenway gradually leads users into the countryside around Fafe, a region known for its natural beauty, traditional gastronomy, and Minho culture.
Following the gentle alignment of the former railway, the route is suitable for cyclists, walkers, and families. Along the way, users can enjoy scenic views, forests, agricultural landscapes, and reminders of the area’s railway heritage.
