Limerick City and County Council is the authority responsible for local government in the City of Limerick and County Limerick in Ireland. As the local government authority is responsible for administering public services, planning, infrastructure, housing, community development, environmental management, and economic development across both the city and county of Limerick in Ireland.

The Council’s vision is to make Limerick an attractive place for business, education, culture, tourism, and investment while ensuring inclusive participation by local communities. Its strategic objectives focus on improving local governance, supporting economic growth and job creation, empowering citizens to shape their communities, and delivering accessible, efficient public services. The organization also works to protect the area’s natural and built heritage while investing in infrastructure and sustainable development.

This public authority is responsible for the Limerick Greenway. The Limerick Greenway is one of Ireland’s longest off-road walking and cycling routes, stretching approximately 40 km through rural West Limerick along the former Limerick–Tralee railway line.
