GAL Polesine Delta Po
GAL Polesine Delta del Po is a public-private local action group (LAG) established in 1994 in the Veneto region of Italy to promote sustainable rural development in the Polesine and Po Delta area. Operating under the European LEADER programme, the organization brings together public authorities, businesses, and community stakeholders to support projects that improve the local economy, quality of life, and environmental sustainability. Over the years, it has implemented hundreds of initiatives focused on rural development, tourism, cultural heritage, and community engagement.
A central focus of GAL Delta Po is the enhancement of the unique natural and cultural resources of the Po Delta Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO-recognized area known for its wetlands, biodiversity, and distinctive landscapes. The organization promotes sustainable tourism through the development of rural itineraries, cycling routes, greenways, and other forms of slow, eco-friendly mobility. Its projects aim to connect local communities, visitors, and businesses while preserving the environmental and cultural heritage of the region.
In the framework of the “Via Verde del Po” (Po Greenway) programme, organization investments in sustainable tourism infrastructure, and participation in international projects like Greenways Outdoor, which promoted European greenways and active tourism. Through these initiatives, GAL Delta Po contributes to rural regeneration, sustainable mobility, nature conservation, and the growth of environmentally responsible tourism in the Po Delta region.
