BASQUETOUR – Agencia Vasca de Turismo

Basquetour is the official tourism agency of the Basque Government, responsible for developing and promoting tourism in the Basque Country (Euskadi), Spain. Established in 2006, its mission is to strengthen tourism as a source of economic development, employment, and territorial cohesion while ensuring that tourism remains sustainable and beneficial to local communities. The agency operates under the Basque Government’s Department of Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs and is responsible for implementing tourism strategies defined by the government.

Basquetour aims to:

  • Promote sustainable and responsible tourism.
  • Increase the competitiveness and quality of the tourism sector.
  • Position Euskadi internationally as an attractive destination.
  • Generate economic and social value for local communities.

Greenways are a key component of the Basque Country’s strategy for sustainable tourism, active mobility, and rural development. Basquetour promotes greenways not merely as recreational infrastructure, but as tourism products that connect heritage, nature, and local communities.
