Greenways
» FAQs

1. Are motorised vehicles allowed on greenways?

In principle, greenways are intended for non motorised vehicles. However, according to the regulations of each country, authorised vehicles such as service and first aid vehicles can have access to greenways.

2. Is it possible to cross Europe by greenways?

No, not yet. Nowadays greenways are still isolated areas. However, the objective of the EGWA is to create a European network of greenways. This will take some years. In the mean time, most countries have existing itineraries using a combination of greenways and small roads with light traffic. They are being called véloroutes (French), cycle routes (English) and fietsenroutes (Dutch).
