During the meeting, the panel of judges had to choose between the 26 candidacies coming from Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, UK, Ireland, Austria and Czech Republic that competed in the two categories of the Awards (Development and Tourism and Mobility) the winners of the Awards.

 

The enormous quality of the projects presented made it a hard for the members of the jury to choose the winners. The panel, composed by international experts in Greenways, representatives of the institutions supporting the Awards, decided not to take into account for the final result:

 

- Already awarded candidates in passed editions.

- Candidates that are not greenways according to the Lille Declaration.

- Candidates that have sent projects of greenways: non-developed greenways 

 

Finally, the jury decided that Awarded projects:

 

Development and Tourism Category:

 

Plazaola Greenway- Spain:    1^st Prize

 

 

Iron Horse and Bicycle Greenway- Austria: 2^nd Prize

 

 

Albi Castres Greenway- France: 3^rd Prize

 

 

 

Mobility Category:

 

Kirklees Greenway network – United Kingdom: 1^st Prize

 

 

Perigourdinne Greenway – France: 2^nd Prize

 

 

Itinerario Ciclopedonale Modena- Italy: 3^rd Prize

 

 

The jury decided to give a Special Mention of Excellence to the Sierra Greenway (Spain) in the Development and tourism category. Also, for the high quality of the projects presented, the jury decided to give a mention to:

 

Girona Greenways (Spain) in the Development and Tourism Category

Hautes Vosges Greenway (France) in the Development and Tourism Category

La Louviére-Triviérs Greenway (Belgium) in the Mobility Category.

 

The jury decided to give a special mention to those projects that had an interesting and quality approach, and that in the future will build up good quality greenways:

 

Former Railway Spoletto-Norcia (Italy)

Degli Erei Greenways (Italy)

Boyne Canal Navigation Path (Ireland)

 

The ceremony of the Awards will take place on the first week of November in Madrid, and will be hosted by the Spanish Minister of Environment, Mrs Cristina Narbona. The organization will get in touch with the winners to organize their presence.
