Quality of the environment in urban area is a determining element in the definition of a healthy place to live. Each year, more than 3 million vehicles are added to the European car fleet. The issue of passenger traffic increase will not enhance if road traffic and associated problems is not drastically reduced. (Loss of urban living space, poor air quality, unacceptable levels of death and injury, pollution, declining economic efficiency due to traffic congestion…).
Citizens have to decide how to answer to the issues concerning life quality and about what we wish to give to the next generation as heritage. Lots of questions come into mind:
· How to transform public spaces in more attractive places?
· Should priority to cars not be reviewed?
· Should more promotion for alternative transport be proposed?
More and more cities answer yes to these questions
